Scene 1: Classroom
[The classroom is decorated with lanterns and mooncakes. Li Ming and Jane are sitting at a table with their classmates.]
Li Ming: (excitedly) Hey everyone, it's almost Mid-Autumn Festival! We're going to celebrate with some traditional Chinese activities.
Jane: (curious) Oh, that sounds fun! I've heard about the Mid-Autumn Festival, but I don't know much about it.
Mr. Wang: (smiling) Well, Li Ming, why don't you explain the significance of the festival to us?
Li Ming: (nodding) Sure thing, Mr. Wang. The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunions and to celebrate the moon. It's usually on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, which falls in September or October.
Jane: (amazed) Wow, that's so interesting! Why do you celebrate the moon?
Li Ming: (excitedly) Well, according to folklore, the moon is the most beautiful and full on this night. It's said that the moon god, Chang'e, lives on the moon, and it's a time to honor her and the moon's beauty.
Mr. Wang: (nodding) That's right. People also enjoy mooncakes, which are round pastries filled with sweet or savory ingredients. They symbolize completeness and reunion.
Scene 2: Mooncake Making
[The class is gathered around a table where a group of students are making mooncakes.]
Li Ming: (showing the mooncake mixture) This is the mooncake mixture. It's usually made with lotus seed paste, but there are many other flavors.
Jane: (watching closely) How do you make it?
Li Ming: (demonstrating) First, we mold the mixture into small balls, then we place them in the mooncake mold. After that, we add a thin layer of lotus seed paste and put another ball on top. Finally, we press the mold and take out the mooncake.
Jane: (impressed) That's so cool! I can't wait to try one.
Scene 3: Lanterns and Poems
[The class has moved to a quieter area of the school to enjoy lanterns and read poems.]
Li Ming: (holding up a lantern) These lanterns are so beautiful. They symbolize light and hope.
Jane: (pointing at a lantern) What's that poem written on that lantern?
Li Ming: (reading) "The moon shines bright, but not as bright as my love for you." It's a poem expressing love and longing.
Mr. Wang: (smiling) Yes, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for expressing love and appreciation to family and friends.
Scene 4: Family Reunion
[The scene shifts to a family home, where Li Ming's family is gathered around the table, enjoying mooncakes and tea.]
Li Ming: (holding a mooncake) Grandpa, this mooncake is so delicious! Thank you for making it.
Grandpa: (smiling) You're welcome, Li Ming. The Mid-Autumn Festival is all about family and sharing happiness together.
Li Ming's Mom: (looking at the moon) Look at how beautiful the moon is tonight. It's a reminder of how far we've come and how much we have to be grateful for.
Li Ming: (nodding) Yes, and it's a time to appreciate the love and support we receive from our family.
[The family continues to enjoy the mooncakes and the beauty of the full moon.]
End of the Scene.
